The Research section is a regularly updated survey of medical, psychological, and health studies (2000 to the present) which broaden our conceptual and clinical understanding of depression; evaluate the effectiveness of treatments; and illuminate factors influencing depressive illness (life stage, stress, spirituality). Clinical trials and reviews are selected from major health databases and meet scientific requirements for sound design and evidence. We also try to include studies on depression treatment that reflect new research paradigms and/or innovative methods to help us better understand the impact of non-western healing systems (East Asian Medicine, Ayurveda) and therapies that rely on highly individualized responses (psychotherapy, aromatherapy).
